In a Public Art competition between 11 other artists, DSIGNAGE's proposal was to use the symbolism and simplicity of the fireman's slide pole to connect the history and heritage of the Fire Department and Houston, Space City. Rising from a tranquil pool of water, the 40-foot pole passes historical archival images that are backlit at night and then disappears into a ceiling image provided by the Hubble Telescope / NASA, taken during the month of HFD Station 8's dedication. This installation is part of the City's permanent art collection and is titled, "Appreci 8".
